Sweet Millie could not walk a week ago due to a stroke. She spent several days at Childrens Mercy and has began to recover. This week we celebrated at church her healing and the fact that she can walk again! Thank you God for loving Millie and giving us more reasons to trust in YOU!

This has been a week to count your blessings. Wayne is getting ready to begin down the path for his bone marrow transplant on Wednesday September 21. We gathered around Wayne and his family Sunday at Hillcrest Covenant Blue Valley Church. We asked God to surround him with talented doctors and staff . We ask that his family and friends gather around Wayne and his wife to love them during this difficult time. I admire his courage and sparkle in his eye as he accepts this journey with smiles and laughter. He is a blessed man and he knows it. He has all his trust in the Lord.

As some of you may know...my dad was in the Joplin tornado. He was saved by his neighbor JT. I am very thankful for his kind heart and super hero qualities he had that day! The best way I know to thank someone is with pictures. I offered to take his wedding pictures for free on the big day. Of course we had to celebrate the new smile courtesy of Dr. Hannah in Olathe. I also got a few random pics as well......the beauty & history of a door. I LOVE to ask questions. The home today had so much charactor and appeal. It has been in the family through several generations. I loved the detail on the door hardware. Old homes have so many beautiful features. They also had a few family pets watching me today as I took pictures. And yes...that is a lamma! They actually own six lammas, two horses, and three dogs! Love this family!! I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Olga Deckman for her senior pictures today. She is a second-generation Chernobyl child. Olga has not been slowed by physical deformities as a result of her parents' exposure to radiation during the 1986 Russian nuclear power plant disaster. She was brought to Kansas by Project Restoration through Hillcrest Covenant Church to receive medical attention. She was adopted at the age of five after her host family quickly fell in love with her spirit and beauty that radiates within her. She is a young woman that is vibrant, cheery, and full of life. She will go to college next year and plans on being a motivational speaker some day. She has a beautiful way of connecting with people and sharing a message of perseverance. She talked about the need for perspective, will and desire as well as having the courage to find one's own path. To know Olga...is to love her.

I feel so blessed to call Olga my friend.

My Sweet Ally Fales ~ Kansas City Photographer Who LOVES Her Dogs!

After 14 years together .....through the birth of my 6 kids, loving and protecting us 24-7, loving me unconditionally...my sweet 16 year old lab was put to rest on 6-27. She was my first dog and she quickly stole my heart. Thankfully she flunked out of guide dog school at 2 years old and after seven months on a waiting list...we could adopt her. I quickly ruined all her training w/ a 1000 peanut butter sandwiches that I made her in her lifetime and many homemade cookies. She would play ball with me to pass the time while in labor in our backyard until I left for the hospital for each kid. Ally kept my feet warm on cold nights and stayed up with me when I was working late. She came on most of our vacations and car rides w/ me daily. Many of you who came to my house thought I was crazy keeping a dog that could hardly walk, could not control her bowels and riddled w/ tumors. I waited until I could see in her face that it was time. I can only say I loved her and that did not stop when she became ill. I hope I have shown my kids by example that you love and care for your animals until the end.

They are family you know.

A Little Perspective ~ Joplin Tornado 2011

An amazing week of survival, healing and a new perspective on life. Many people of Joplin realized that life is more than having stuff. I pray that they can find hope through this terrible tornado and that the people of world show love and compassion when they need it most.

My Dad was given a car from a member of my church. To say the least...he was overwhelmed with LOVE. I am completely in awe of them as well as the many who offered their love with food, clothing, and donations to him during the last few weeks. Thank you all!!
